I find the clear black and white 'comic book' design style appealing. However, the designs could be a bit over-detailed, especially if planning to animate them in 2D - you would need to hire a team of animators. The graphic style allows to work with silhouettes and understand the contrast of the character shapes with the background. It is a good choice for storyboard clarity as long as there is not too much time spent drawing the detail. A storyboard does not have to be clean drawings, just drawings that tell a clear story.
